Updated on 30 May 2023

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that 27.3 million taxi trips were taken during the first quarter of the year.

The number of taxi journeys taken during the first three months of this year is the highest ever recorded, compared to the first quarters from previous years. The total number of journeys is up from 26 million trips between January and March 2022, 19.2 million in the first three months of 2021, and 23.3 million and 26.1 million in the first quarters of 2020 and 2019 respectively.

Adel Shakri, Director of Planning and Business Development in Public Transport Agency at RTA said, "This sector experienced an unprecedented surge, marking its highest growth in recent years, particularly e-hail services, smart rental services, and Hala Taxi service. The analysis of figures and ratios of the sector during the first quarter of 2023 reflects the thriving economy of Dubai, which cemented its standing as a prominent global hub for investment and tourism."
