Second Dubai Michelin Guide Revealed
Updated on 23 May 2023

The second Dubai Michelin Guide has been launched, confirming 14 Michelin-starred restaurants in Dubai, up from 11 in the last edition.

Trèsind Studio at Nakheel Mall, which received one Michelin star last year, is now a two Michelin-starred restaurant.

The 2 restaurants that maintained their two Michelin stars are:

  • Il Ristorante - Niki Romito, Bulgari Resort Hotel, Jumeirah 2
  • STAY by Yannick Alleno, One&Only The Palm

The 3 new restaurants that received one Michelin star as part of the second Michelin Guide are:

  • Avatara, Voco Hotel, Sheikh Zayed Road
  • Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, Atlantis The Royal
  • Moonrise, Eden House, Al Satwa

The 8 one starred Michelin restaurants that maintained their ratings are:

  • 11 Woodfire, Jumeirah 1
  • Al Muntaha, Burj Al Arab
  • Armani/Ristorante, Burj Khalifa
  • Hakkasan, Atlantis The Palm
  • Höseki, Bulgari Resort Hotel, Jumeirah 2
  • Ossiano, Atlantis The Palm
  • Tasca by José Avillez, Mandarin Oriental, Jumeirah 1
  • Torno Subito, W Dubai - The Palm

A new category called Opening of the Year was announced, with Ariana's Persian Kitchen at Atlantis The Royal, Palm Jumeirah, receiving the title.

Tomislav Lokvicic from La Mar by Gaston Acurio, Atlantis The Royal, Palm Jumeirah, received the 'Service Award' and the 'Michelin Green Star', which is given to restaurants that prioritise sustainable dining, with Boca in DIFC and Teible at Jaddaf Waterfront, receiving the rating.

Lowe at KOA Canvas, Wadi Al Safa 3 retained its 'Michelin Green Star' rating from last year.

Omkar Walve from Avatara at Voco Hotel, Sheikh Zayed Road, received the 'Young Chef Award' and Arturo Scamardella from Dinner by Heston Blumenthal at Atlantis The Royal, Palm Jumeirah, was awarded the 'Sommelier Award'.

Additionally, 17 restaurants have been rated Bib Gourmand, with the 14 announced last year maintaining their status and three new restaurants, Amara, 3Fils and 21 Grams joining the lineup.

One of the highest distinctions a restaurant can receive, the guide was launched in 1920 in Paris, and is now present in 41 culinary destinations around the world. The first Dubai Michelin Guide came out on 21 June 2022.

Through the guide, residents and tourists are able to find the best spots to dine in the city.

The restaurants are visited by anonymous judges, and five different criteria are used to assess the restaurant, including quality of the ingredients, mastery of the cooking, the balance of flavours, the personality of the chef throughout the cuisine, and the consistency of the menu as well as the cooking at various times.

With a three-star rating system, one star is awarded to restaurants with high-quality cooking worth a stop, two stars for excellent cooking worth the detour, and three stars for exceptional cooking worth a dedicated trip to the restaurant.
