Liwa Ajman Dates And Honey Festival To Begin On 24 July
Updated on 23 July 2024

The Ajman Department of Tourism Development (ADTD) is gearing up for the ninth edition of the Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival, a significant cultural event in the region. Scheduled to take place at the Emirates Hospitality Hall in Ajman from 24 to 28 July 2024, this festival celebrates the cultural and agricultural heritage of the UAE, focusing on the importance of palm trees, dates, and honey.

The festival serves as a vital platform to highlight the role of palm trees and dates in Emirati society, emphasising their significance as symbols of national identity and heritage values. It aims to promote sustainability in the heritage and agricultural sectors, highlighting dates not merely as agricultural products but as integral parts of the UAE's cultural fabric and history.

In terms of the festival, preparations are complete, with the main stage, traditional market, and learning workshop areas all set up. Collaboration with farmers, beekeepers, small business owners, and artisans is finalised to ensure a diverse program catering to all age groups. During the festival, daily activities will include cultural performances, competitions, and educational workshops.

Key Things To Expect At The Liwa Ajman Dates And Honey Festival

The festival's objective is to elevate the symbolic value of palm trees as authentic Emirati symbols, support local farmers and beekeepers across Ajman and other emirates, and showcase the talents of artisans and local producers. Numerous organisations are involved in arranging workshops, including the Ministry of Community Development, Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, and various museums and cultural centres from Sharjah.

At the Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival, there will be a traditional market that will feature 56 diverse shops, offering everything from farmers' produce and honey to clothing and Ajman-themed souvenirs.

The festival also offers a massive prize pool totalling approximately Dhs 500,000, with awards distributed across categories focusing on dates, citrus fruits, and honey from different regions of the UAE. ADTD invites visitors to immerse themselves in this celebration of Emirati heritage, promising an enriching experience that supports local agriculture and showcases the UAE's cultural richness.

Farmers and landowners are encouraged to participate, presenting their unique products and competing for prestigious prizes while strengthening their ties with the local market.
