Updated on 15 October 2024

UAE residents, prepare for a magical theatrical experience as Chicago The Musical, a winner of six 1997 Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards, a Grammy, and thousands of standing ovations, makes its way to Abu Dhabi. Celebrating its 27th anniversary, this Broadway sensation will be performing at the Etihad Arena on Yas Island from 12 to 22 September. This iconic musical promises to take you on an emotional journey through its captivating blend of fame, fortune, and jazz.

Chicago The Musical is renowned for its sultry and sassy score, featuring hits like 'All That Jazz', 'Cell Block Tango', and 'Razzle Dazzle'. This show is hailed as 'the most exciting musical of its generation' and is set to dazzle audiences with its high-energy performances and unforgettable moments.

The production, based on the 1926 play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, has a legendary book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander, and lyrics by Fred Ebb. The 1996 Broadway revival, directed by Tony Award winner Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Ann Reinking in the style of Bob Fosse, brings a touch of Broadway’s finest to Abu Dhabi.

Since its Broadway debut, Chicago has toured major cities worldwide, including London, Sydney, Tokyo, Seoul, Paris, Berlin, and Madrid, making its way to Abu Dhabi as the second-longest-running Broadway musical.

What Is Chicago The Musical All About?

Set in a city where jazz reigns supreme and fame is the ultimate prize, Chicago tells the provocative story of two fiercely competitive women, aspiring jazz performer Roxie Hart and former vaudeville star Velma Kelly. Their dramatic journey through passion, murder, greed, betrayal, and redemption offers a theatrical experience like no other.
