One of the great things about a short working week is that the weekend comes round a whole lot quicker, and before you know it we have that extra free time away from work and weekday chores to spend fun and active time with friends and family.

The summer time does not go quiet in Dubai, and this weekend, just like many weekends, is full of great things to get us all out and about. From watching hilarious comedy sets to enjoying live performances, here are just some of things you can do this weekend.

Start the weekend with loads of laughs at The July Laughter Factory tour. Enjoy watching stand-up comedians, Lisa Alvarado, Pierre Hollins and Paul Tonkinson, as they keep you giggling away with their hilarious stand-up sets.

Music lovers can enjoy Garage Nation this week, which incorporates genres from R&B, jungle and dance pop. Dance the night away to amazing artists including DJ Luck, MC Kie, DJ Pied Piper, MC DT, Dane Bowers and Adam Cotier. Prices start at Dhs 100.



The Sound of Music Film Screening

Where Cinema Akil

Directed by Robert Wise, The Sound of Music is a popular movie from 1965 that follows the journey of Maria, who is an aspiring nun, sent to be the governess of the Von Trapp family. Filled with song and dance, the movie highlights how Maria wins the children over and is a great movie with lots of positive messages.

The hilarious Indian comedian, Naveen Richard is here in Dubai and is sure to make the crowd laugh with glee. Talking about his experiences in life to jokes about healthy food, the set is sure to be one to watch. Ticket prices for the show start at Dhs 80.



Neo Soul Music Night

Where Theatre of Digital Art

Theatre of Digital Art is hosting an amazing Neo Soul Music Night where you can enjoy great music. The band, Strain of the Soul will perform and offer guests an immersive 360 experience to remember.



Cairokee and Afroto Live

When 16 July

Where Dubai World Trade Centre

In celebration of the 25th edition of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS), Egyptian band, Cairokee and trap artist, Afroto will perform an amazing set. Performing at the Sheikh Rashid Hall at Dubai World Trade Centre, the show is one of many to come throughout the season to keep residents entertained. Ticket prices start at Dhs 200.



Baby Shark Show

When 15 to 17 July

Where The Theatre at Mall of the Emirates

The viral Baby Shark song is being performed live at The Theatre at Mall of the Emirates where children can enjoy singing and dancing along to their favourite songs by Pinkfong. An arts and crafts workshop as well as a meet and greet with their favourite characters will also be held. Ticket prices start at Dhs 150.



Dubai Flea Market

When 17 July

Where Festival Plaza

Festival Plaza is home to the Dubai Flea Market this week and will offer guests a wide variety of pre-loved items from furniture, clothing, accessories, electronics, toys, games, books and more. The market will be held at the mall's Food Court on Level 1 from 11am to 6pm.
