Dubai is gearing up to bring in the Year of the Dragon with a dynamic array of events, activities, and retail promotions organised by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE). From 2 to 11 February, 2024, the city will be engrossed in celebrations, inviting residents and visitors to join in the festive spirit of Chinese New Year. 

Reflecting its diverse population, Dubai aims to become the ultimate destination for Chinese New Year festivities. The Year of the Dragon will be celebrated with vibrant dragon and lion dances, traditional performances, immersive workshops, retail offers and dazzling light shows, creating an enchanting atmosphere across the city.

Here are some offers that you must know of. 

  • Dubai Festival City Mall is offering Chinese residents and visitors a 10% cashback on gift card purchases worth Dhs 300 or more. Additionally, two fortunate shoppers can win a gift card worth Dhs 10,000. The mall will feature a Dancing Dragon performance and an immersive IMAGINE show from 9 to 11 February, celebrating the 'Year of the Dragon' with a captivating display of fire, laser, and light. The Chinese New Year celebrations will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display at 9pm on 11 February.
  • Mall of the Emirates invites Chinese residents and visitors to join the Chinese New Year festivities. By presenting their receipts at the Chinese Customer Service Desk and selecting their prize from the raffle box, participants stand a chance to win Dhs 100,000 in Mall Gift Cards, airline tickets from China Southern, 22-carat gold coins from Damas, and electronics from Huawei.
  • Dragon Mart will celebrate Chinese New Year with dynamic performances, including the Big Dragon Dance, Lion Dance, Dragon Kung Fu Dance, Peking Opera Show, and Umbrella Dance. The festivities, taking place from 2 to 11 February, will also feature a Dragon Head Lantern Making Workshop.
  • As part of the celebration, Dubai will host the China Media Group’s (CMG) Spring Festival Gala 2024, recognised by Guinness World Records as the most-watched television program globally. This public broadcast show, featuring dance, opera, and traditional Chinese heritage performances, will take place on 9 February from 4pm to 9pm at Dubai Airport Terminal 3 and the Chinatown of Dubai Mall. The event will be broadcast live at 4pm.

  • Customers can use Alipay or WeChat Pay at participating Al Tayer stores across the Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates to get 15% off on full-priced items until 16 February.   • Residents and visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the lively spirit of the new year at IMG World by enjoying array of shows until 20 February, including the Lunar New Year celebration dance, dragon parade, and the mesmerising magic show. 
  •  A burst of colour and tradition awaits visitors in Jumeirah Lakes Towers as they celebrate the Year of the Dragon. Attendees can enjoy captivating dragon and lion dances, lively drum shows, and engage in arts and crafts. The main event is scheduled for 10 February at JLT Park, between Cluster P and Q, from 4pm to 7pm.
