Dubai Hosts The Wheelchair Basketball World Championships

The IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships 2022 is being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Running now until 20 June, the championship has over 300 players including Paralympic and world champions, with 16 men's and 12 women's teams competing for the title. 

The UAE team is participating for the first time in the championship. Other countries that are a part of the tournament are Australia, Brazil, Italy, Thailand, Egypt, Canada, Germany, France, South Korea, Argentina, the Netherlands, England, Iran, Iraq, the United States, Algeria, Japan, China, and Spain.

The championship marks the UAE as the first Middle Eastern country to host the event and aims to provide a platform for people of determination to showcase their skills at a global level.

The tournament was initially set to be held from 16 to 27 November 2022, and was then rescheduled to 9 to 20 June.

The event is free to attend and open to all.
